Thanksgiving Comes Before Supplication

"On Thanksgiving Day, we must be thankful for what we have, rather than focus on what we have lost. We have so much. An attitude of gratitude is received by the universe and rewarded with more of what is good. Resentment, hurt, bitterness and sadness just close our hearts and fill us with negative energy leaving no room for anything of value."

The pain of a recent unexpected break-up is still very raw. After all the love, the promises and expectations, It is normal that I feel hurt, sad and a tremendous feeling of loss. I thought this was it, my partner for the rest of my days but he changed his mind and did not give any clue that he was about to walk out. A feeling of resentment towards him for doing this to me and my children is totally warranted. How could he hurt us? How could he do this to his own children? So many questions. But do they serve me? Only if I learn from them.

I wrote the Thanksgiving Day quote as a reminder to myself. If I focus on everything I have lost and continue to feel all the negative emotions, I can only expect to attract more of the same into my life. As much as I want to believe that there is a future, there will be someone even better, of course it is difficult to even think that for a moment. But if I focus on the pain, the negative energy I send out will attract the wrong man, setting me up for more hurt in the future. I don’t want that, of course, but an unconscious belief will create the force that manifests that result again and again.

A friend asked me, “How did you attract this into your life?” I was angry with his reaction. I didn’t attract this break-up. I did everything I could to be a wonderful girlfriend and second mother to his children. But the Law of Attraction states clearly that we do attract everything into our life. We must take responsibility for our life and be on the cause side of the cause/effect equation. I must ask, “What did I do to cause this?”. I do not know but being the victim on the effect side does not serve me, it only keeps me in pain. What will it cost me to stay here? This relationship and possibly any future ones. Certainly inner peace and contentment.

I know that to create the life I want to live, I have to start with an attitude of gratitude.

I just remembered a format for prayer I learnt over twenty years ago - ACTS:
Adoration – of God
Confession – of sins
Thanksgiving – of all that we have, all that we are, all that we have received
Supplication – of all that we still ask for

Adoration and Confession are relevant when God is the Father of our life but here I want to concentrate on Thanksgiving comes before Supplication. In the Law of Attraction, we develop an attitude of gratitude in our thoughts and most importantly in our emotions because both give out energy. It is only when we are truly grateful that we can ask.

So what I am grateful for about my relationship? I am grateful that I met him, that we shared so many fun times, that he helped me be a better mother, that he shared knowledge with my sons, that he fixed my central heating system, that we learnt from each other, we experienced real happiness, togetherness, intimacy and a wonderful mutual love for each other. Some people never experience that intensity.

He is not in my life now, at least not today, but I know that he will not come back if he senses negative emotions of blame, hurt, shock, anger, bitterness, torment, suffering, rejection, neediness, pity, despair, powerlessness, panic. Who would want to go back to that? He once said he could feel my love vibes even though he was an hour’s drive away. So he can also feel the energy of negative emotions at a distance. So could any other man I meet and maybe he would be an even better man but I would never know.

Instead, I can use this pain constructively because it is often in the moments of pain that change occurs. We can stay in our comfort zone of discomfort but pain brings that all-important life-changing decision to do and feel differently.
How about courage, discovery, enthusiasm, optimism, inspiration, hope, pleasure, calm, acceptance, trust and, of course, self-love and respect?

Change can occur in the snap of a finger if we choose to try on a different way of being. I have an enormous wealth of personal development knowledge, skills and resources. I don’t need to look outside for help. I just need to change my state and be resourceful. The universe will only respond positively when I drain my heart of the negative clutter and fill up with positive energy.

So I am going to focus, really focus on something positive and be truly grateful for blessings. Let go of hurt and any negative state which does not serve me. Give thanks and more thanks. Go out into nature and breathe in the simple richness of creation and be grateful for what I have today. Tomorrow is tomorrow but today is all we truly have.

The Pursuit of Happiness

I just watched another inspiring show on Oprah entitled “How Happy Are you?” Here is a happiness quiz that the studio audience answered. I suggest you do the same before reading any further.

How satisfied are you? To find out, read the following five statements.

Use the 1–7 scale to rate your level of agreement.
1 = Not at all true
4 = Moderately true
7 = Absolutely true

1. In most ways, my life is close to ideal.
2. The conditions of my life are excellent
3. I am satisfied with my life.
4. So far I have gotten the important things I want in life.
5. If I could live my life over, I would change almost nothing.

(Quiz developed by Ed Diener at the University of Illinois)
Did you score nearer 5 or nearer 35 points? Your answer will be revealing.

It was interesting that the person with the highest score in the studio was a male funeral director who scored maximum 35 points. We might think that looking at dead bodies every day would be depressing but he told us that he felt honoured to be able to help people at a very difficult and sad time. He said his way of looking at life is not aiming to be successful in material terms but to be significant is more important. He labels each day eg “Marvellous Monday”, “Terrific Tuesday”. That is great because it sets up an intention for the day. He chooses to be an optimist.

Dr Robert Holden is British and has written a book
Happiness Now!: Timeless Wisdom for Feeling Good Fast In fact the subject of his Doctorate was happiness. He joked that it is rare to find a Brit who is happy!

Happiness is a choice YOU have to make. It is a state of being only you can create.

If we choose to be an optimist, the Law of Attraction will work in our lives as our perception gathers evidence to prove us right. “What is the good that can come out of this?”

When I studied French A´Level, I read Voltaire’s “Candide. Candide was a man who endured a life of suffering but through it all, he stuck to this belief that “Everything works for the best in this, the best of all possible worlds”. It is a wonderful book, funny and sad but so poignant. I really recommend Candide as it turned me on to optimism at a young age. I am even a member of an international Optimism Club.

Happiness has to come from inside but we tend to look outside to make our lives happier. There is a place inside us where we are already happy. Do you know where it is?

Going back to the Law of Attraction, we project what we think we deserve on to the world and, guess what, it comes back multiplied. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who build you up and keep reminding you of your qualities and strengths. We become like the people we mix with. Who do you see on a regular basis? Are they a positive plus in your life?

Mothers who always help others first are particularly in danger of leaving themselves out of their life but the best gift we can give our children is showing them how to be happy. Children do not learn from what we tell them – I’ve noticed that – but what we show them.

Dr Robert Holden identified “Destination Addiction”, that conundrum of “I can’t be happy now but I will be when I have this, become this, go there”. We are always chasing more, looking around the next turn. The truth is that you will not be happy when you arrive at your destination. You will simply choose a new destination. Have you experienced that? We cannot create happiness from material items but from the internal joy within us.

He also talked about “Happychondria”, the fear that if things get too good, there will be a fall, something will go wrong, there will be a price to pay. We say, "This is all too good to be true" or "All good things come to an end". Why? Says who?

Turn it around. Dare to let life be great. As Del Trotter always says, “He who dares wins”.

Life is too short and we do not receive a second chance. Some of us do go through near death experiences, serious illnesses etc which should teach us the value of every day. But for too many, this is true – “We die before we die”.

In the film “The Pursuit Of Happyness” (deliberately mis-spelt), Will Smith makes us thankful for what we have by showing us how easy it is to lose it all.

Let go of the past for you cannot change it. Start anew. Find your purpose in life. Focus on the significant contributions you can make to yourself, your family and then the world and “success” will surely follow.

Someone wrote a review about Happiness Now!: Timeless Wisdom for Feeling Good Fast,“This book should be on schools’ “must read” llist actually, if it’s not on the parents’ bookshelf already”.

Candide: A Dual-Language Book

Here are some quotes about happiness:
"But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” – Albert Camus

"Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others.” – Buddha

"There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.” – Carl Jung

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mohandas K Gandhi

"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” – Denis Waitley

"The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy.” – the Dalai Lama

"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored." - Earl Nightingale

How Empowering Beliefs Shape Successful Entrepreneurs

Every business owner wants their business to be a success and perhaps even build an empire from that success. If you really want your business to excel and to achieve every aspiration that you have, do not even think “Failure is not an option,” because as soon as you let that thought crossed your mind you have already opened the door to failure. Your belief must be that “the only option is Success” – the achievement of what you are after.

The way you think and the thoughts that you let into your mind will determine how your life manifests itself. Making sure that you have empowering beliefs will not only change the way you perceive the world around you, but it will also impact the success of your business. Know this: “Always think in the positive.”

Some people may argue that “failure is not an option,” is a positive affirmation, but is it right to say that not wanting to fail means wanting to succeed and hence it is a positive statement? No it isn’t, it is negative and here’s why. When you are carrying that belief, your mind is occupied with “not” landing yourself in “failure”. This means that you are unlikely to rise beyond the level of “not failing”, which is nowhere near the success you want. In more tangible terms, you are settling for anything from 50/100 to 60/100 instead of 90/100 to the perfect 100/100.

“Failure” and “not” carry negative connotations and most mental imageries associated with them are not exactly desirable. Now, the universe works by reading the states of what your thoughts are, so if what you are thinking of is the failure not happening, the universe reads “failure” and you would step right through the door to failure.

Think for one minute which statement makes you feel strong and empowered: “You will not fail!” or “You will succeed!” The second statement should have evoked a more positive feeling because what you are thinking about then is “success”. “Success” is the vibration that you are sending out to the world and therefore “success” is what is brought to you by the universe.

Beside holding the correct beliefs for your business, being optimistic about your endeavors are just as important. Having empowering beliefs and being optimistic is a wonderful and highly powerful combination for an entrepreneur. Optimism, together with belief in yourself and your business, will allow the universe to bolster your business. One essential part of the law of attraction is the “Believe” process and being optimistic that your desire is coming is part of the “believing” process. This isn’t just a theory; there are anecdotal evidences that support the fact that optimism is a significant contribution to how successful a person and a business can be. Just think about it, optimism is an ingredient to human evolution (you will have to read further down the article to find the information) and it keeps us going when the tide is against us.

Understand that optimism is not something that you can develop after reading a book or watching a show, it is a habit that we have to pick up. The successful people of the world have not only learned, but mastered it as well.

What does this mean to you, the entrepreneur? It means that your set of beliefs and level of optimism dictates where your business is heading towards. The universe meets the positive vibrations that you are sending out and return more positive things your way. If you don’t seize them, you are wasting energy and you will not be successful.

If you are curious to know whether or not you are an entrepreneur that is using empowering thought to its fullest potential, you can answer the following questions:

- Do you have a crystal-clear vision of what you want to achieve and how to do it?
- Do you spend a reasonable amount of time you can afford on working towards those visions?
- Do you recover fast from every failure and celebrate every success that you have?
- Do you remain enthusiastic about your vision after somebody has given you the cold shoulder?
- Do you have an air of confidence around you that let others know that you are worthy of success?

If you were able to answer yes to all five questions, you are an optimistic person who knows how to use empowering beliefs to take control of your future and get what you want. If there is a question or two that you have answered “no” to, stop for a moment and figure out what made you said “no.” The purpose of this exercise is for you to better understand how strong your beliefs are and what could be holding you back.

This process is not easy but it is worth it. Empowering beliefs and optimism are necessary attributes to having the universe work with you for the ultimate success of your business.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Children chant,
"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. What you say is what you are."

They do this when someone calls them a bad name meaning to reflect it back on the other child.

However, what we tell ourselves is truly what we are.

If you tell yourself that you are a loser, you will be. If you tell yourself you are bad at spelling, you will be. If you tell yourself you are fat, you will be fat. I have noticed a tendency for people to denigrate themselves, perhaps believing that modesty is a virtue. Or if someone pays them a compliment, they counteract it with a negative. Instead quietly say, "thank you". If someone has congratulated you on a positive quality, accept it and believe it.

Brian Tracy, "You are what you think about most of the time".

So it is better to tell yourself good things about your personality, your character and your physical looks. Remember that the subconscious mind knows no difference between reality and fantasy so it works to produce what it is told. You might think you are saying something jokingly but how does your subconcious know that? Be careful what you say and what you think. If you know about the Law of Attraction, you will know that your thoughts are energy which come back to you.

Hypnosis works by reprogramming the subconcious to accept new beliefs, new behaviours and new habits. It is a quick and powerful way of making a positive change.

When "I Wish" Becomes "I Will"

"The most important thing in life is to stop saying 'I wish' and start saying 'I will.' Consider nothing impossible, then treat possibilities as probabilities."

- David Copperfield, Magician

"I wish I could lose weight."
"I wish I could stop smoking."
"I wish I could exercise regularly."
"I wish I could read a book a week."
"I wish I had more customers."
"I wish I could visit my family in Australia."
"I wish I could afford to send my children to the best school."
"I wish I could speak Spanish, type faster, bake cakes, prune my roses ..."
"I wish I could give up my job and work for myself."

So what is stopping you?

YOU.

We all have the same 24 hours per day and roughly the same number of brain cells combined with physical and mental capability. The difference is what we do with these resources. Other people are turning the "I wish" into "I will" and so can you.

When Anthony Robbins was at his lowest point in his life, 38 lbs overweight, living in one room and working as a janitor, he realised that things would only change if he changed. He made a commitment to read one personal development book every day. Was that easy? Probably not. Did it require sacrifice, dedication and self-control? No question. Has the effort paid off? Millions of times over.

The only way you will turn the "I wants" into reality is when they become a must which converts into a "I will". When you want something badly enough, you will have to plan how to turn the possibility into a probability. Only when the pain of not having something becomes greater than the pleasure of the alternative can you start to achieve your goals.

From 1983-85, I studied a professional qualification in Advertising & Marketing by correspondence for two years on top of a full-time job from 8.30am to 6pm. I went home and made dinner so that I was ready to start studying at 7pm and kept going until 11pm, five nights a week. Did I have other places to be? Yes. Did I have friends inviting me to join them? Yes. Did I miss a lot socially? Yes. Might I have missed interesting TV programmes? Yes, but I did not have a TV at the time so avoided that distraction. At the end of two years I was offered an interesting and challenging job with a major US advertising agency working on one of the world's top advertising clients. That was my pay-off for the sacrifice.

When "I wish I could learn to ski" becomes "I must learn to ski because it is a healthy sport in the fresh air surrounded by beautiful scenery and my sister has asked us to join her family next winter", you have taken the first step to making ski-ing a reality. Write down the reasons why you must have or do something then post them where you can see them everyday. You might need resources like money to do a training course, money you do not currently have spare in which case I suggest you learn how the Law of Attraction can bring into your life whatever you desire once you know how to apply the science.

The Secret

"The Secret is the answer to all that has been, all that is and all that will ever be." - Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1803-1992.

The Secret says that you can have, do or be anything that you want once you understand the Law of Attraction. You attract what you think about most. Your thoughts become things because each thought has a frequency which travels through the universe. Be careful what you think about because what you think about most is what you will attract. Think about good things

You do not need to understand the Law of Attraction any more than you have to understand, say, how electricity works. Bob Proctor says this of electricity,
"I don’t understand how electricity works but I do know this, you can cook a man’s dinner with electricity and you can cook the man!"

“You create your own universe as you go along.” – Winston Churchill. Joe Vitale says we can see the universe as a catalogue and pick the items we want: the home, the material items, the relationships, even the people we want to attract.

Bob Proctor says, "Life can be phenomenal. It should be and it can be."

The Secret can help you create the life you have always wanted so choose wisely what sort of life you want to design. Write it down and take time to think and visualize every day on the details.

If you want abundance, see yourself living in abundance. Create the details. Think the thoughts, see the images, feel that life.

Esther Hicks says, "What you think and what you feel and what manifests is always a match. Every single time. No exception."

The creative process is 3-step:
1. Ask for what you want. The universe responds to thoughts, not specific words.
Find out what you really want. Write about it in the present tense.
2. Answer to what you are asking. The universe is responding to your thoughts.
Most people do not state what they really want because they cannot see any way for it to manifest but anyone who accomplished anything, did not know how they were going to do it. You do not need to know how. Universe is answering, every time, no exception.
3. Receive. Bring yourself in alignment with joy, enthusiasm, passion. When feeling despair or anger, you are not in alignment with what you are asking for. When you begin to realize that what you are feeling is everything, the universe must manifest into your experience.

To be continued...

The Faith of a Child and The Universe

I believe in the Law of Attraction and The Secret. Here is a true story which shows that child-like faith and belief can attract amazing and beautiful responses from the Universe.
*************************************

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy.

Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!

"And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages," he said without waiting for a reply to his question.

"Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick..and I want to buy a miracle."

"I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist.

"His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?"

"We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you," the pharmacist said, softening a little.

"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs."

The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?"

"I don't know," Tess replied with her eyes welling up. I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money."

"How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago . "One dollar and eleven cents,"
Tess answered barely audibly. "And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to."

"Well, what a coincidence, " smiled the man. "A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. "He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need."

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well.

Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. "That surgery," her Mom whispered. "was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?" Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.

"The Secret", "Law of Attraction", "Science of Getting Rich" - new squidoo

I have just published a new squidoo site with links to resources on "The Secret", "the Science of Getting Rich" and "The Law of Attraction" including:

* books
* DVDs
* download audio books
* YouTube videos
* clothing, badges and stickers
* The Science of Getting Rich program

Antonia Stuart-James published a Squidoo "The Secret" & "The Science of Getting Rich" - Wealth Creation

Are you in the 5% or 95%?

Take any group of 100 people at the start of their working career and follow them for 40 years until they reach retirement age and here is what you'll find, according to the Social Security Administration:

* Only 1 will be wealthy
* 4 will be financially secure
* 5 will continue working, not because they want to but because they have to
* 36 will be dead
* 54 will be dead broke - dependent on meager Social Security checks, relatives, friends and even charity for a minimum standard of living.

That is 5% successful, 95% unsuccessful.

These are US statistics. In the rest of the world, especially the developing world, the situation is far worse.

What makes the difference? University education? Being born into a rich family? Luck?

"The Wealthy People in the World Understand and Use the Law of Attraction in their Daily Lives."

The wealthy understand that abundance is there for the taking. It is not a win-lose situation - there is enough for everyone. We can all be rich.

But humanity must learn to harness the correct thought process to attract wealth...
